THANK YOU CITY OF VISTA!!!!!!!!!!! ANOTHER YES VOTE!!!

On May 27, 2014, Mayor Judy Ritter, Deputy Mayor John Aguilera, and our City Council Members: Amanda Rigby, Dave Cowles and Cody Campbell gave a unanimous positive vote for not one, but TWO skatepark locations in Vista.

As you may recall, we had another full Council vote in February of this year, for two park locations, and after public response, updated one of the locations to another (and bigger, better!) spot. We now have our two location addresses and are already beginning the Grant and funding process!!!

On behalf of the Vista Skatepark Coalition Board and Members, we wish to express our sincere gratitude to the Mayor, Council, City Manager, Parks & Recreation and the numerous City Staff Members, who have made this possible for the youth of our City.

“A 5 year Anniversary”

The original Vista Skatepark was closed on August 8, 2008 for the new Civic Center to be constructed. The old Skatepark, built in 1997, was very popular and frequented by many.

Over the past couple of years, the Vista Skatepark Coalition has become a Non Profit Corporation, members of the Vista Chamber of Commerce, and has participated in City Council meetings, Parks and Recreation meetings, and numerous community events. Including the Vista Chamber of Commerce, Vista Village Business Association, the Boys and Girls Club of Vista, The Pride of Vista Lions, Kiwanis of Sunrise Vista, and many, many more community Organizations and businesses.

The Coalition Members continue their community outreach at Vista community events, volunteering for local organizations, hosting skateboard classes and art at the Boys & Girls Club of Vista. Holding book drives, toy drives, and donation collections for various Organizations including Kiwanis of Sunrise Vista, Operation Hope and the Susan G. Komen Fund to name a few.

The Coalition Board works tirelessly with the City of Vista, the Vista City Council, City Manager, Parks & Recreation Commission and the Vista Chamber of Commerce on plans and options for skateable sculptures, skate dots and skate spots, and ultimately a full skatepark facility for Vista.

While 5 years is a milestone, that time has been well spent working hard for the project, the youth of Vista, and the greater community. We wish to thank the Vista citizens, the Vista Organizations and local businesses and the City Leaders for their continued and unwavering support of the project and the Vista Skatepark Coalition.
